Every year it's been a family tradition to pick apples in the Fall. Last year due to the pandemic we did not partake in this tradition. This year we were able to do so at our favorite location, Brookdale Farm, and were able to invite one of my daughter's friends. They have so many varieties and the location is beautiful. It is run like a well-oiled machine. They really know what they are doing.
There's just something great about spending time outdoors in a small rural town picking apples. It's very New England. Figuring out what varieties will be good for which recipe is half the fun. We (I) try to keep in mind what we will need for apple pies, apple crisps, mini apple tarts, apple slaw, and applesauce. Honestly, though we just pick. We pick whatever we can and mix n match until our bags are overflowing. That's really the fun.
Now all the baking begins and everyone gets to enjoy the reward of their efforts. So delicious.
Until next year when we can do it all again! Thank you Brookdale for your service.
